Group Exhibition at Subliminal Projects: Los Angeles, CA
A GROUP EXHIBITION FEATURING LOCAL TALENT
Public Reception: Saturday, December 6 · 2 – 6 pm
Exhibition Dates: December 6 – January 10, 2015
SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS is pleased to present our 2014 Holiday Bazaar, featuring artwork from Los Angeles’ burgeoning creative network. Subliminal Projects has, from its inception, always been dedicated to the success and celebration of the provocative minds connected to and residing in Los Angeles. We are pleased to present an exhibition of work by many artists that have crossed our path, for a number of reasons and in a number of capacities.
Exhibiting artists include: Amanda Gordon Dunn, Andrew Holder, Angela Chvarak, Anthony Sneed, Britt Harrison, Casey Ryder, Christina Hendershaw, Dale Dreiling, Ernesto Yerena, Francisco Reyes Jr., j.frede, Michael C. Hsiung, MR Herget, Nicholas Bowers, Nil Ultra, Phil Lumbang, Richard David Sigmund, Shepard Fairey, Sterling Bartlett, and Tara Smith.
Each artist has a unique style and the exhibited works reflect a wide array of media, aesthetic, texture and subject matter. Fun, confrontational, decorative, soothing, abrasive and well executed, the artwork in this year’s Holiday Bazaar pays tribute to the characters occupying, defining, and sometimes defiling, our beloved city.
In addition to unique works, there will also be a selection of prints from the gallery archives on view and available for purchase. These prints offer a diverse range of size, style, and aesthetic by artists such as: Deedee Cheriel, Steve Harrington, Evan Hecox, Monica Canilao, Camille Rose Garcia, Stanley Donwood, and Gary Panter. Many of the available prints were originally featured as part of Art Alliance, an exhibition curated by Shepard Fairey that took place in Chicago during Lollapalooza 2014. This show highlighted the provocative and rebellious genius of a handful of practicing, international artists by putting them in the center of one of the world’s most well-known music festivals and culturally sophisticated capitals.
The Holiday Bazaar kicks off Saturday December 6th at 2 p.m. with complimentary baked goods, live music, warm cider, and Smokin’ Willie’s food truck serving up savory options in the parking lot. Family, friends, lovers, and haters are all welcome. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 12 to 6 pm.

CALIFORNIA GIRLS OPENS AT BLACK BOOK GALLERY
California Girls is Amanda Gordon Dunn’s latest series exploring futuristic California landscapes by melding a colorful and candy inspired palette. Dunn’s experience with the metal fabrication industry and textiles is a major component and inspiration for the execution of the series. Each piece was created by layering, dipping, and fusing color onto metal. Which results in a balance of optical illusion and contemporary landscape painting.
Show opens Friday, October 3rd

I'm pleased to announce that I have two collaborations with Berlin based artist, John Reaktor. Show opens March 14th at Hinterland Gallery, Denver & Neurotitan Gallery, Berlin.
53 artists from Berlin & 53 artists from Denver
What if .... reflects on the “call and response” nature of the artistic process where the artist initiates a work by manipulating material and then influenced by the material, follows through accordingly. This dance is repeated in a series of steps until completion. Often times the unknown variables in this process are what excites or motivates an artist. This project ensures unknown variables by pairing a Denver artist with an Artist from Berlin and asking each artist to initiate a work via the linguistic question, “What if…?” responding to that question visually, then allowing a visual follow up to complete the work. Thus begins the chance relationship. The work created by artists from Berlin will be completed by Denver artists and shown throughout three venues, GroundSwell Gallery, Hinterland, and Showpen. The work by Denver artists will be completed in Berlin and exhibited at Neurotitan, a gallery in Berlin. There is no thematic curation involved. Instead the exchange process is seen as more of a cultural event.Rather than isolate the destination and focus on the exhibition as a crescendo, we are interested in exploring the whole exchange as a quasi “happening.”

IN THE WILD
I'm pleased to announce that I have one of my circus bear pieces included in a an all animal show at Black Book Gallery.
Featuring: Cycle,Scott Belcastro, Nicky Davis, Melanie Pruitt, Sam Flores, Vanessa Foley and Amanda Gordon Dunn
From prehistoric to modern times the influence of nature on our visual lives is profound. Some of the earliest paintings in existence on cave walls from Africa to the America’s typically featured animals and nature related scenery. From abstract paintings of flowers, to black and white photographs of mountains, nature has inspired iconic pieces of art found in museums and galleries across the world. In advertising and entertainment, animals are often used to communicate in place of humans. Our love of nature is one of our best inherent qualities; it inspires people to devote their lives to protecting, promoting, representing and enjoying it on every level imaginable.
“In The Wild” is the first in a series of exhibits featuring nature interpreted through varying contexts and mediums. Highly detailed, stark and vibrant representations of the realistic and surreal natural world will definitely provoke your imagination and curiosity.
